This class is online via your Canvas LMS platform on SPSCC. The course material can be accessed from any internet connected device, including mobile devices and smartphone via Canvas App. See these references links for Canvas Apps: Ipad - Android This online course relies on material from your book, including video case scenarios, and introductions to material. You will be expected to navigate the course material as it is laid out your Canvas modules and complete the chapter work on schedule. There short online chapter quizzes for each chapter of your book. While the weekly quizzes are not timed, they are date sensitive and cannot be accessed beyond their due date. Late submission are not accepted. In the Canvas navigation menu on the left you will see a DISCUSSION link that will take you our course discussion platform. I will be posting topical subject matter relevant to our course. You may be interested to read it and leave your well thought out comments. While this is not a graded event it can be informative. If you have something you think you classmates would be interested in reading related to our course, just send me a short email via Canvas messaging and I’ll consider it for posting. In addition, you will be completing a course project. This “Check List" type project will provide real-time experience using many cloud based applications. These services are used by many of today’s modern law offices, and while you don’t need to become an expert in their use, you need to be able to navigate them successfully. Below is a short list of online/cloud services we’ll be 'checking off your list' : Cloud platforms and collaboration MS Office Live (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote) (MS account required--get a free one here Law Office Management platforms: MyCase.com We will be using Mycase.com to gain experience using an online law office matter/case/ management tool. Many of today's law firms manage their practice in virtual (online or hybrid) environments. While there are many versions out there they all provide basic law practice management platforms that can range from small and solo practice offices, to large corporate law offices. We will be using mycase.com as a generic sample of a law office management tool. Project details will be posted in Week Four module. *Note: all the above services are free but most will require registration.
